Pregnancy Update: Week 13

How far along: 13 weeks - 2nd trimester! (some don't consider the 2nd trimester to start until the end of week 13, but I don't agree with that)

Total weight gain: 1 lb (started around 115, currently at 116)

Sleep: I've been able to sleep a little better this past week, but I still wake up several times a night to get move around and get comfortable.

Maternity Clothes: None yet, but I'm thinking of getting a pair of maternity jeans this weekend. Sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day in tight pants hurts :(

Food cravings: Still lots of milk, pears, grapefruit juice, instant flavored oatmeal.

Food aversions: (Same as last week) Water makes me so sick to my stomach, so I'm probably pretty dehydrated right now. I'm hating sweets, greasy/fried foods, anything with a strong smell and saltine crackers.

Symptoms: This is the 1st week that I have started to feel better. I still need to eat lots of little protein-rich snacks every few hours or I feel sick, but I have a bit more energy and I am able to focus more on what I'm doing, rather than thinking of my next snack. lol. My back has been hurting this week and I still get really tired around 8pm.

Movement: None yet.

Gender: Not sure.

What I’m looking forward to: To look more like I have a real baby in my stomach, instead of a food baby. haha! Starting to exercise again now that I'm not sick all the time. I plan to start taking daily walks to ease into it. Finding some comfortable jeans that don't dig into my stomach.

What I miss: Eating whatever I want, water, having the energy to keep the house clean (it's always a mess now), motivation to leave the house.

Best moment this week: We had our first OB appointment on Wednesday to get a full exam and go over my blood work and other various tests I took a few weeks back. All the blood work came back normal, I passed the glucose test (yay!), they didn't find anything weird in the urine test, and we were able to hear baby's heart beating again which was neat :) The doctor also said I have great strong hips that will easily support a baby. Good to know.

Pregnancy Update: Week 12

My intention is to post these updates every week to track my progress, so we'll see how successful I am with that :)

How far along: 12 weeks

Total weight gain: -1 lb (started around 115, currently at 114)

Sleep: I've been on vacation this week, so my sleep schedule has been a little weird. I've been staying up a little later and staying in bed later as well. I wake up constantly to get comfortable, to take a bathroom break, and/or to get a late night snack. No wonder I have such dark circles under my eyes :(

Maternity Clothes: None yet. My jeans still button, but they are getting pretty tight.

Food cravings: Milk! Apples, cheese, nuts.

Food aversions: Water makes me so sick to my stomach, so I'm probably pretty dehydrated right now. I'm hating sweets, greasy/fried foods, anything with a strong smell and saltine crackers.

Symptoms: Constant morning sickness. I feel nauseous literally all day, with some puking episodes thrown in randomly throughout the week. Not fun! I currently have a terrible headache that hasn't left in 2 days, I have no energy, my back hurts, etc. I'm constantly eating, but I am always starving. Sounds like a blast, eh? :)

Movement: None yet.

Gender: Not sure.

What I’m looking forward to: Passing this terrible morning sickness stage! It's miserable.

What I miss: Being able to be out in public for longer than 10 minutes without feeling sick to my stomach, eating more than just bland foods, being able to eat and get full, drinking water, having energy.

Best moment this week: Getting an ultrasound on Monday and seeing baby move for the first time :) He/she is measuring right on target, which was a huge relief.

Well then...

So the last blog post I had was all about getting in shape and working out all the time, etc. Which is hilarious now because I got pregnant unexpectedly a few weeks later and now all my priorities have changed :)

I think the desire to make positive changes in my life are now stronger than ever, but obviously have nothing to do with getting in shape and toning up. Now it's more about getting into a healthy routine that I can stick with even when the baby comes, getting the house in order, getting our finances straightened out, etc. My hope is that I will start updating more often, at the very least so I can look back post-baby and see what was going on in my life prior.

And of course, there will be lots of baby-related posts, since I have a feeling I will forget most of the details later on. So be ready for that :)
